Geocache Description:

This cache is the first in a series in the Hellvetia/Pickens area to highlight the history.  Here lies Walter Aegerter.  Please check the snow fall in this area before caching here.

One day Walter Aegerter went to a basswood tree to get a honeybee swarm.  He climbed up a ladder to get up into the tree.  As he was getting the swarm he fell out of the tree.  He got pneumonia from laying there over night.  Hazel Burky found him and took him to a hospital.  He died in the hospital on May 28, 1965.  He farmed the land he was buried on.  He was an amatueur photographer.  We still keep the beekeeping tradition to this very day on this sam farm.  for more information about the Aegerter family check with the beekeeper across the road.

This container is a small lock rubbermaid and was placed with the help of lauidw7. Permission was granted by the landowners to place this cache. Please use the parking in front of the house directly across the road where one the beekeepers live, she may just come out to watch! Happy caching!
