The cache site is at a spot which is easily reached from the Tarka Trail. A bus stop is nearby, as is a layby for a cache and dash. However the layby is on the opposite side of a busy road from the trail. Care needs to be taken in crossing the road. The cache is a small clip lock box with a log and space for a GC or small TB.
There used to be a geocache near this site, which was one of the first we ever did. Although it has been removed we wanted to place one here as we think it is a good place for a geocache. You can arrive or depart from the trail at this convenient spot, by more than one method of transport.
The Tarka Trail is very popular for walkers and cyclists.The geocache site is just off the Tarka Trail between Instow and Bideford. Either town has places to park if you would enjoy a walk along the Trail. The cache site is also near to Westleigh, which is a small village but does have a pub where refreshment can be found. You can walk to Westleigh from this spot but care needs to be taken in crossing the main road.
The cache is near the road and children will need to be supervised. You do not need to leave the pavement to retrieve the cache.
Stealth needs to be exercised as this area can be busy at times.
