Una breve passeggiata di circa 20 min (+20 min di ritorno) vi porta al cache attraverso un sentiero che costeggia il torrente Neirone e le sue cascate nella zona intorno all’imponente Forte di Gavi. Lungo il sentiero si colloca inoltre una parete rocciosa con oltre 50 vie di arrampicata e le rovine di una vecchia cascina bruciata. Lasciate la macchina alle coordinate del parcheggio e proseguite a piedi per il cache. L’inizio del sentiero si trova vicino al parcheggio alle coordinate N44°41.532 E8°47.994.
Situata in una bellissima zona collinare, Gavi fu per secoli al centro dell’unica via che da Genova raggiungeva il Nord Italia, occupando una posizione strategica. Il paese e tutto il panorama circostante sono dominati dall’imponente figura del Forte che sorge su un isolato sperone roccioso a 380 metri sul livello del mare, risalente al periodo antecedente l’anno Mille, trasformato nel corso dei secoli fino a giungere alla forma attuale nel XVII secolo.
Dopo aver trovato il cache, invece di tornare indietro si può eventualmente continuare il sentiero e chiudere il giro passando dal centro di Gavi (il sentiero completo è ben indicato sui vari cartelli che trovate nei pressi del parcheggio e lungo il sentiero). Buon Geocaching!
A short walk of approximately 20 min (+20 min return) will bring you to the cache along a path which follows the small “Neirone” river and its waterfall in the area around the impressive “Forte di Gavi”. Along the path you will also find a climbing wall with more than 50 climbing routes and the ruins of an old burned out farmhouse. Leave your car at the parking coordinates and continue on foot to the cache. The trailhead is at N44°41.532 E8°47.994.
For centuries Gavi has been a very important town because of its strategic position along the only road from Genoa to northern Italy. The ancient Fort of Gavi overlooks the town and the surrounding vineyards at a height of 380 m. It was possibly built in the pre-Roman era and transformed over the centuries, until it reached its actual form in the 17th century.
When you have found the cache, instead of turning back you can also continue the path and return to the parking place through the town center of Gavi (the complete trail is well-indicated on the information signs near the parking place and along the path). Buon Geocaching!
