Geocache Description:

Former home of WJXN Radio Station

This is the former WJXN 1450 AM Radio Station that went on the air in 1945. Once a Country music station it had visits from Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Clower, that I know of and sure there were many more... it changed its format to Gospel music in 1974. It was then known as, "The Colonel - Your Gospel Station" and later sold around 1986 and tried several formats until it went dark (off the air) in 1993. Hillery Clinton made a visit when Bill was running the first time. I met her and got to see how fake she was even back then. The location back in the day was off the beaten path, wooded and basicly in the country.  You can still today see rows that were plowed for farming in the years past. There was no I-55 and the Pearl River ran close to this building before the river was re-routed. During the 1979 Easter Flood, water reached the roof line and during rebuilding a mobile home was brought in to house the station.  The Cache is easy to find, your basic park and grab.
