Geocache Description:

perkersonpark

You may not be aware of the perks of Perkerson Park, so this cache is here to show you! Surprisingly, at 50 acres, the park is relatively unknown to most who do not live nearby. It's situated in the Capital View/Sylvan Hills neighborhoods of Southwest Atlanta.

Originally the family farm of the Perkerson family, it was donated to the city of Atlanta in the 1950s. It was turned into a park that now houses a newly renovated playground, numerous pavilions and grilling areas, little league ball-fields, basketball and tennis courts, a recreation center, open fields, a tract of woods, a sizable creek, and most recently, a newly opened public disk golf course that will be completed in the Spring of 2013. It is the only permanent public disc golf course in the city of Atlanta.

While hunting for this multi-stage cache you will be taken on a small tour around Perkerson Park.

Update 11/21/20: Stage 1 has become too worn away to use. Stage 2 is now the starting location for this multi. Coords and content on the cache page have been updated.

Stage 1: You are looking at a piece of art.

  • Take the number of letters in the 3rd word at the top of the painting and add them together. This will give you A.
  • Take the number of letters in the last word at the top of the painting and add them together. This will give you B.
  • Take the number of letters in the first word at the bottom of the painting, add them together, then subtract 3. This will give you C. (Because this word has started to fade I'll give it to you here: community.)

The coordinates to the 2nd stage are:
N 33° 42.7A2
W 084° 24.BBC

NEW Stage 1: You are listening to the babbling of the creek below. As pleasant as it is, this stage will have you looking for a nano that contains the coordinates to the final location. There will be muggles, so your hunt must be stealthy. There is no need for your feet to get wet.

Stage 2: You are dodging Frisbees in the middle of the woods. Weird, huh? You have just explored part of the new disk golf course and hopefully gotten to the cache without sustaining any head injuries. You are looking for a camoed lock-n-lock container that can hold small trade items. It is hidden off the course, but still near the action so be aware of any watchful eyes. As a safe guard, there are some thorns and briers guarding the cache location.

Hope you had a great time exploring Perkerson Park!
