This series of caches is placed to encourage hikers to enjoy this trail and its beautiful scenery. The trail loops is approximately 2k long and should take 1 hour to complete. Wear good footwear and watch for cactus. Park off the road at N50 43.664 W 121 15.465 then a short walk down the road to the trail head at N 50 43.648 W 121 15.552.
In the Mesa Vista, the “regulars” all have their favorite routes and the “dunes” are a very active place, particularly first thing in the morning. Crisscrossed by numerous paths, the dune walks are generally classified as “easy.” The pungent aroma of silvery sage and mats of prickly pear cacti combine with bunchgrass and myriads of wild flowers at different times of the year, making for an ever changing tableau. Bring a pencil.
