Geocache Description:

Welcome to Sagamore Hill!  This is a micro, a tiny container with just a log.  Please replace exactly as found.  The cache is on the road to Sagamore Hill Just outside the park.

Sagamore Hill was the summer home of the 26th President of The United States, Theodore Roosevelt. 

Theodore Roosevelt Jr. 26th president of the United States from 1901 to 1909. He served as the 25th vice president from March to September 1901 and as the 33rd governor of New York from 1899 to 1900.

Theodore Roosevelt AKA Teddy Roosevelt and TR, was born October 27, 1858, New York, New York, U.S. and died January 6, 1919, Oyster Bay, New York. He was an American statesman, politician, conservationist, naturalist, and writer who served as the 26th president of the United States(1901–09) With the assassination of President McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, not quite 43, became the youngest President in the Nation’s history.

He was also a writer, naturalist, and soldier. He expanded the powers of the presidency and of the federal government in support of the public interest in conflicts between big business and labor and steered the nation toward an active role in world politics, particularly in Europe and Asia. He won the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1906 for mediating an end to the Russo-Japanese War (1904–05), and he secured the route and began construction of the Panama Canal (1904–14).

This is a great park and sanctuary.  There are many hiking trails to be explored here.  It is in Cove Neck in Oyster Bay.  The park is open 9 AM to 5 PM.  There is a visitors center and guided tours in season.
