Geocache Description:

This cache is located on the upper slopes of beautiful Slieve Gullion, the highest point in County Armagh

Slieve Gullion  is a mountain in the south of County Armagh in Northern Ireland. The mountain forms the core of the Ring of Gullion and stands as the highest point in the county with an elevation of 573 metres. Slieve Gullion plays a prominent role in the mythology and history of the area surrounding it and dominates the countryside around it, offering views of as far away as Antrim, Dublin Bay, and Wicklow in favorable weather conditions.

County Armagh local authorities have spent much of the last year improving the trail from the Upper Carpark (waypoint added) to the summit carn. There is now a very well defined path all the way to the summit making this one of the easiest hikes you will ever do.

The cache is a small tablock box located approximately half way between the carpark and the summit carn. It is hidden near a convenient rest spot

Please remember that although the new path makes this a relatively easy hike, you must alway respect your surroundings while in the mountains and come appropriately prepared. This is especially true if you intend to continue on to the summit and on to the crater lake
