Along the Tooma Road is a beautiful old race course with many wonderful shade trees and an old fashioned grandstand.. This racecourse might be unusual in New South Wales as the horses run counter clockwise, not only that they actually vanish at a particular place on the track as there is a small hillock almost opposite the winning post. The horses only vanish for a few seconds not long enough for change of horse or jockey. No Fine Cotton nonsense for Tumbaumba Turf Club.
At one time Tumbarumba had more than one race meeting a year however beaurocracy has interfered and now only one race meeting per year is allowed. If you are fortunate enough to be visiting when the annual meeting is held refreshments are available and it is a delightful place to lunch.
