This is a really beautiful part of inland NSW. Tourists visiting often exclaim about how much the area has to offer - bush walks, fishing and maybe a bit of prospecting.
The Creekscape Walk is located behind the main shopping centre of Tumbarumba, parallel with the main street, The Parade. Follow the Tumbarumba Creek along to the Bicentennial Gardens. This is a lovely tranquil spot to have a picnic lunch. You can follow the creekscape path until you come to a small bridge where a young lady called Mica rode clean off the path into the creek – fortunately she was wearing a bicycle helmet at the time, otherwise the consequences might have been worse than a minor graze and a very shaken young lady
.
Tumbarumba has a number of well preserved old buildings, such as the Court House and the Police Residence which were constructed in the 1880s, probably as a result of the discovery of gold in the area in 1855 which led to an influx of population. Evidence of the gold mining can be seen on this walk
More recently than gold Tumbarumba has been making a name for itself with the production of cool climate grapes. There are several wine tasting places although no wines are made here at the present time.
