This tale is one that gets lost many times. Although our heros make it out of the story well, there was a tragedy. The witch it seems (Although she was not specifically named) had a taste for young children and would entice them through the woods with a house that was constructed of confectionary treats.
The whole thing backfired when the kids were able to get the witch in the oven instead of being cooked themselves.
After the fire, the people of the nearby village were afraid to leave the remains of the witch nearby for fear that she would be able to somehow come back and seek revenge. They gathered all they could of the ash remains and entombed them. They were then sent to the Ozarks to be quietly placed in an area where no one would disturb them.
That was the year 1812. Now all this time has passed and it is time for those who seek an adventure to look for, discover and prevent the Gingerbread Witch from ever returning. I must warn you that this may not be for the feint of heart. The gravesite it seems can not be hunted in the daylight and it has been placed in a remote part of a forest so as never to be disturbed.
Along the way you may notice an eerie glow. If you spot such a thing you will know you are getting close. Be aware of any strange noise or brush of a shoulder that seems as if you are not alone. The Witch knows what we are up to.
If you reach the resting place (Cache) you may be one of the chosen ones. Four talismans (Travel Bugs) are part of this site. It was told that on the 12th day of the 12th month of the 12th year. The Gingerbread Witch would rise again to seek her revenge. The charms (Travel Bugs) must be taken and sent in different directions all around the world and should never come together again as a group. This is the only way to be sure to keep the site intact and safe from a return.
You are looking for a unique cache type listed as a Large that will be difficult to miss once at GZ. The Lock and Lock Box that holds trade items will be found within the larger cache container. You may want to have gloves although no material was used in the construction that can bring harm by touching it. Logging your visit is as easy as one of the Gingerbread witch's special recipies.
It has been 200 years since the Brothers Grimm set down the German story of Hansel and Gretel and it seemed fitting to create this cache in celebration of the bicentennial. This cache will revert to a regular swag trading cache (and a great place for travel bugs and coins) after all charms have been removed .
