Geocache Description:

Escondido Canyon Park geocache, just off main trail to the waterfall.

monkeydogfish:

This is the fourth and last of our four 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' geocaches along the trail to the Escondido Falls in Escondido Canyon Park.

Other 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' Caches:
Goldilocks
Baby Bear
Mama Bear

Parking is about a mile from the park entrance down close to PCH, where there is a small parking lot. If it's full, there is PCH roadside parking close to the Winding Way lot. You have to walk up through a residential neighborhood before actually getting to the park entrance.

The roadside trail is unshaded, but once in the canyon, there is lots of tree cover. Best time of year is spring or after it rains, so that the falls will really be running. Not being spring-fed, it can sometimes run dry. This is a very popular trail; being early might help with getting a precious parking spot and also for avoiding crowds.

This cache is too big!

Papa Bear is an ammo can with camouflage, off of the main trail. It is close to the stream bed, just before the lower falls. There is some poison oak around; please watch what you touch. You can continue the trail up to the top of the falls for a nicer view.

Homemade FTF tag, $1 coin and trackable dragon for the first to find.

Happy hunting!

chloboo:

This was Poppa's first day staying home from work. He really had the case of the Terrible Itchys! Momma Bear said that she would take a rest from creating figurines and stay home with Poppa and crochet while he rested. After Baby Bear went to school, Momma Bear set off to Auntie Red Reyeding's blanket. Momma then got up for a glass of salmon juice while Poppa twisted and turn on his old ammo box that had become his bed. Momma came back and saw Poppa bear, with no help at all, fighting this itchy sickness. Momma sighed and set to work for Poppa's backscratcher. She gathered twigs and branches from Baby Bear's old play pen in the back-yard. She broke off the old fence and bent it into a VERY "convincing" large spoon shape. She carefully twisted the wood in to the spoon shape and gave it to Poppa. He took it and survived the day!

Very soon, Momma Bear had bumps on her body! "Baby Bear," she moaned,"Did you plant poison ivy in your playpen?" I guess Momma is know gonna be borrowing Poppa's back scratcher!

If you want to create a "backscratcher", use chicken wire instead of fence! You may use twigs but grape vines might work better!

If you wish to create a wreath, you can only use vines from grapes or another bendable objects. Just twist the vines together in a circle. Decorate if wished!

Happy Hunting!

Congratulations to bleed_blue_LA for FTF!
