This series of Cache’s is a long 4.2 mile Hop around the 138 Hectares of National Trust owned & maintained areas of Hawkwood and Pettswood. These woods link Chislehurst with Pettswood. Having schooled and lived in this area for many years it was only right that I share them with you all. The area is full of natural history; the area is a haven for all kinds of bird, butterfly, amphibian and plant life.
William Willett, the leader of the movement to have British Summer Time recognised, is remembered by a stone memorial. A similar commemoration can also be viewed in the Edlmann Memorial Wood for its donor, Colonel Edlmann, owner of the Hawkwood Estate before the Hall family, who donated the site to the National Trust.
The terrain can be undulating & can get very muddy. A lot of hard work from the National Trust Staff and the CO went into the placing of this series. Please respect their requests. Most of the caches can be accessed from footpaths. Please refrain from too much bushwhacking. You are looking for a variety of different sized containers. You will need a pen to sign logs, some may require tweezers!!! Please replace these caches as you find them.
Cachers who have found some of my other caches may recognise my MO.
If on your travels your hear me shouting at my Geopup “Boris” the Border Terrier stop and say hello, you may even get a hint!! Enjoy JTB. You could gather all you need for Cache Chislehurst 6 Everybody swim, GC3RPPO and make a very short diversion.
