Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a plan I have to hide 2 new caches every month for all of 2012 in the Upper Yorke Peninsula. One will come out on the 1st of the month and will be a traditional cache and the other one will come out on the 15th of the month and will be another type (such as puzzle, multi, etc). Each cache I place in the series will have the logo you see here on it so that you know which ones are part of the series.

Telegraph (from Greek tele "far", and graphin "writing") is the long-distance transmission of messages without the physical exchange of an object bearing the message.

Telegraphic communication with Kadina was opened on Friday, September 5 1862. The following messages were transmitted: —

From Mr. Todd to Editor of Advertiser.

Kadina, September 5.

Mr. Todd presented his compliments to the Editor of the Advertiser and begs to inform him that telegraphic communication was established between Kadina and Adelaide this afternoon, when the following congratulatory messages were passed

Captain Hughes to His Excellency Sir Dominick Daly.

Kadina, September 5.

I have much pleasure in congratulating your Excellency on the establishment of telegraphic communication between Kadina, Adelaide, and the neighbouring colonies, but the interests of this district will be greatly promoted by an immediate extension of line to Port Wallaroo. I trust your Excellency will soon pay us a visit and be enabled by personal inspection to form a correct estimate of the resources and requirements of Wallaroo, and I can assure your Excellency of a hearty welcome awaiting you from the inhabitants.

God Save the Queen.

From Sir D. Daly to Captain Hughes.

Clare, September 6.

Many thanks for your message, which gives me much satisfaction. I reciprocate congratulations on the opening of the Kadina Line. It is my intention to visit Wallaroo as soon, as I possibly can, and to have the satisfaction and pleasure of becoming acquainted with that very important district and its flourishing inhabitants. I hope soon to be able to name the time.

God Save the Queen.

-: EXTRA INFO :-
At each of the caches I will place over the next 12 months you will be able to find a small clue that will be used in finding a future cache. This will be either in the cache, on the cache or within a few meters of it so keep an eye out for it while finding the cache. It will be in the form of A=? B=? And so on. This is not required to locate this cache but will be handy down the road.

Good luck
