A CACHE

Samuel Morse, born in 1791 in the United States, was responsible for the invention of the telegraph wired, but it became famous for creating the code that bears his name. Morse code, developed in the 1830s, became the primary means of transmission of telegraph messages and was widely used until the last century, when media like the telephone and - more recently - the e-mail have become more agile.

THE CACHE

The cache is in a chapel of Funchal, built in 1712 and belonged to the heirs of heirs Sauvayres, namely D. Luisa Mendonça, widow of José de Seixas.

CURIOSIDADES/CURIOSITY

Despite being composed three decades before the invention of Morse code, the 5th Symphony by Beethoven is known to form in the four opening notes, the letter V (... -), which can be used as the word 'victory.' Therefore, in World War II, the British used to open his radio show a snippet of the work of the German composer.

Even though the name Morse, music Morse Moose and the Grey Goose, the solo career of Paul McCartney, has no words hidden in the code. She began to be made when the former Beatle made experimentations just imitating Morse code on a keyboard along with musician Denny Laine.
