Although Rafe Hollister, played by Jack Prince on The Andy Griffith Show, only aired in three episodes, he is well remembered as the farmer/moonshiner who has a strong and beautiful voice.

(Season 3, Episode 20 Rafe Hollister Sings)

Another memorable episode with Rafe Hollister is when the new county nurse, Mary Simpson, enlists Andy's aid in persuading Rafe to finally get a tetanus shot. When all other methods fail, Andy wears down Rafe's resistance with a strategy of singing the sad song "Dig My Grave with a Silver Spade." The song convicts Rafe to willingly get inoculated.
(Season 2, Episode 24 The County Nurse)

Quote:  I ain't never been to a doctor in my life. When I was born, I had my mama. When I die, I'll have the undertaker. I don't see no sense in clutterin' up things in between.

Fun Fact:  Griffith wanted Prince to have a larger role in the series, but Prince declined, feeling that it would take him away from what was then a successful singing career.
