Geocache Description:

On 1 January 2012 MeandPedro held an event to start a travel bug race. Five tags were handed to them that day and Pedro attached a different colour to each tag.

The rules were simple:
1. The registered TB had to be handed to MeandPedro on the given day
2. A different mission destination had to be chosen for each tag.
3. The TB had to complete its mission before it could win.
4. The TB had to return to Christchurch by 29 December 2012 or be disqualified.
5. The winning TB would be the one that traveled the most kms while completing its mission and getting back to Christchurch in the given time.

Gnomeo was really excited that day, as he handed over his blue tagged travel bug, because this was his first travel bug race, unlike Warbut, who handed over his kiwi tag. He'd come second in the last race and knew anything could happen to a travel bug once it was released into the wild.
The owner of the jandal travel bug, who was not Justmeg, decided to send her exquisite footwear to the fashion capital Paris, where she was sure it would influence the next season's collection. MeandPedro admired their gold tag on the ingot travel bug, its gold coating really made it shine like the bug.

Later in the year...
Little G was thrilled to see his travel bug arrive back in Christchurch on Sept 10th. He was a little disappointed not to win, but was happy with his second placing. His travel bug traveled further than LaVista's.
The third place travel bug did not have Paris as its mission destination and arrived back earlier than the one that arrived on October 29.
The pirate tag came back into the country through Auckland airport after a visit overseas. It was logged into a cache near the airport, completing its mission destination, before it was picked up and brought back to Christchurch on July 7.
The jandal ended in 4th place but the kiwi flew in from Budapest, which enabled it to have a top three placing.
The owner of the green tag was beginning to think their bug might get disqualified because by November it seemed to have visited everywhere but its given destination. A stroke of luck saw it hitchhike a lift from London, to Frankfurt and then on to Paris before arriving back on Dec3. This was unlike the black tagged travel bug that quickly managed to get to New York and fulfill its mission only to then get put in a cache that got muggled and was lost.
