This house (it's also called "House Porohovschikova") is a mansion in central Moscow, Starokonyushny Lane (House 36, bldg 1).
Built in the years 1871-1872 for the Russian businessman and philanthropist A.A. Porohovschikov, the owner of the hotel "Slavic Bazaar" and the eponymous restaurant. The building, built on the ancient foundations of the tree, successfully synthesize techniques of national architectural traditions. Built of thick logs, decorated with carved architraves, cornices and valances, the mansion combines large volumes with a picturesque appearance. House project won an award at the World Exhibition in Vienna in 1873,.
By the end of XX century building was dilapidated. Lack of proper care actually came to the emergency state. As a result of the restoration, completed in 2004, half of the area adjacent to the building that was used for the construction of a modern club house for 6 apartments, adjacent to the house Porohovschikova behind. Now, directly in the house there are a restaurant, billiards room and private apartments.
