Aan het einde van de Oudegracht, aan de noordzijde, gaan de singel en de Oudegracht over in de rivier de Vecht. Op deze plek ligt de Weerdsluis die het waterpeil in de stad regelt en waardoor boten de stad binnen varen. De Weerdsluis is een mooie oude sluis die dateert uit de 13e eeuw en deze staat dan ook op de lijst van rijksmonumenten. Met zonnig weer is dit een populaire plek bij de inwoners van de stad. Ze zitten op de trappen en slaan het geklungel van pleziervaarders die door de sluis moeten gade. Meestal gebeurt dit onder het genot van een zelf meegebracht wijntje en hapje, maar ook zie je hier veel mensen genieten van een heerlijk ijsje gekocht bij de Italiaanse ijssalon op de hoek. At the end of the Oudegracht, on the north side, the singel and the Oudegracht go into the Vecht. The Weerdsluis (sluice/lock) controls the water level in the city and regulates boats entering. This is a beautiful old lock dating from the 13th century and is also on the list of national monuments. With sunny weather this is a popular place for locals. They sit on the stairs and watch the sailors – who sometimes have a hard time tying up their boats - entering the city. Usually the locals enjoy a self-brought drink and snack, but many people also buy a delicious ice cream at the Italian ice cream shop Il Mulino. A lovely spot in Utrecht!
