Treasured memories of our past
TO FORGET ONES ANCESTORS IS TO BE A BROOK WITHOUT A SOURCE,A TREE WITHOUT A ROOT.(Chinese proverb)
When our ancestors settled in this area in the 1800's,the 2blocks to your left [(facing the ocean) were purchased
Since that time 7 generations of our family have at 1 time or another stayed in the original house.
My grandparents demolished it in the early 1970's and built the current house you see on the cnr block.
The original front fence /wall still remains today
Our Dad recalls the days when a govt well and windmill were on the land behind the cnr block and near where you are standing.
I can picture the horses drinking from the troughs whilst they recover from their journey to the coast.
When we were in our late teens we stayed over night alone in the house.
We were woken in the middle of the night to the sound of heavy boot footsteps.
When we asked our grandmother she said it was an old fisherman.
As kids we always looked forward to visiting our great grandparents who lived here.
You will need to bring your own writing implement and you may need tweezers.
