Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions

This cache was originally placed for the event GC41YGD. It is located on a private woodlot (with permission of owner). Park at coordinates provided and hike through this sheltered area about 500 m to the cache site.
Lake Donahue was named apparently for the only resident of the area, who in the mid 1800's, operated a halfway house for travellers from Guysborough to the communities in the southerly direction at the Larry's River area, and to a westerly direction, Isaac's Harbour via the Loon Lake Rd. The private woodlot road which hikers will be accessing for this cache, was built in 1962 through a 60/40 grant offered by the government of Nova Scotia to help support the delivery of wood to the new Stora Pulp and Paper mill in Point Tupper; which opened just a year prior.
Cache is not like any others seen in this area of eastern nova Scotia. Please bring a back-pack with large swag if you wish to trade. The lid is secured tightly and may be difficult to open for some. Should have good hand and arm strength to get into it; and please ensure it is properly put back on. Hike is in a tranquil area. Wildlife may be seen. Area is surrounded with young and old birch, maple, spruce, fir, and beech. Please stay on the trail and respect the property.
