One Pond...Two Ponds...easy. But can you find the hidden pond?
Welcome to Christmas Tree Park in the lovely town of Manchester, MD..
Your hike will take you past the main pond - easy. It will also take you past the small pond - still easy. Next you will find yourself in the old boy scout camp area of the park. But there is a third pond.
Unfortunately the third pond is not on park property but can be seen from the back of the boy scout camp area. This cache will take you as close as you can (or should) get to the hidden pond. In the summer, it may be a little hard to make out...but you can see it with some effort.
Finally, can you spot the tree that my daughter calls "The Lookout Tree"? It is much easier in the winter. If you are looking at the pond from the cache location, let your gaze drift to the left and look toward the open field. Can you spot the lookout hole high in one of the trees? It looks square to us and seems to almost be man made. Hmmmm...
Take a walk along the trails of Christmas Tree Park and enjoy all this area has to offer. Depending on the direction you come from, there is a wonderful lake at the bottom of the hill with trails that lead back to the ball fields and the playground. If you explore futher you may discover other hidden ponds, a bridge (no trolls though), a playground, and lots of other great hidden treasures.
Keep an eye out of the local wildlife as well. I have seen owls, hawks, deer, fox, possum, heron, ducks, geese, and lots of chipmunks.
