This cache is temporarily unavailable.

SearchNSeekNEnjoy: Hello NSEWes,

This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit. Please check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines for more info.

I've added this cache to my watchlist and ill check back to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.

Whatever your intention, please post a note here on the cache page (not email) to let the community know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If 31 days pass without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.

Thank you,
SearchNSeekNEnjoy

This geocache has been placed with permission of the property managers.

This 5/4.5 has been created and placed to celebrate my 500th find.

I was inspired to build this cache after stopping for what I thought was a P&G a few months ago, then realizing it was rated 5 stars! After racking my brain for a solution I had an epiphany! Because I lacked the proper tools, the solution I discovered was probably not the intended one; regardless, my solution worked flawlessly and was sublimely simple to execute! After that experience I realized that I wanted to created a similar hide, but with a unique puzzle twist.

There are 10 hints for this puzzle. They are all posted and available to anyone with a geocaching.com account. Keeping with the spirit of geocaching, the hints are all cleverly concealed in plain sight. This is a 5 star puzzle, but if you can make the hints line up, the posted puzzle can be deciphered with relative ease. All of the information necessary for a solve can be found on this webpage.

Before you begin, there are 10 things you should know about this cache.

1) YOU WILL NEED TO CLIMB AND PROVIDE YOUR OWN CLIMBING GEAR. Please do not climb the tree without a helmet, harness and gear to climb and securely anchor yourself to a tree approximately 15" diameter. The equipment you use should not damage the tree in any way and you must carry all of it out with you when you leave. Please make sure that both you, your caching partner(s) and the tree are protected from injury during your climb! FALLS FROM HEIGHT CAN BE FATAL. If you choose to climb without the proper gear you are doing so at your own risk of severe injury or death.

2) It is very dangerous to attempt and impossible to successfully sign the log on your own without damaging or destroying this cache.

3) This cache must be completed in groups of 2 or more people. In your log you should list who you were with when you found the cache and signed the log. You may want to bring a camera with you when you search for the final. After FTF, pictures of your group at GZ after your find are encouraged with your FOUND logs, but not required. I don't mind if you show the CC or the log in your photos, but please don't reveal the solution in your photos. The more of you there are at GZ, the easier the field puzzle will be.

4) Do not put any foreign objects into the CC at GZ. This will damage the puzzle, jam up the mechanisms and make the log irretrievable. Please preserve the integrity of the field puzzle by using only the items provided and not tampering with the container. If the container is damaged it will not be easy or quick to repair. I spent months planning and dozens of hours constructing and placing this cache. Please do not put things into this container.

5) The container does have a padlock. This is NOT part of the puzzle. The key to this lock is not at the cache site. The padlock allows me to open the cache to perform periodic maintenance on the container without having to completely remove the cache from GZ (saving me hours of unnecessary work). If you believe the cache has been compromised (e.g. if someone has ignored the rules and gets something stuck inside) please let me know and I will service the cache at my next availability.

6) Besides climbing gear, all tools necessary to solve the field puzzle have been provided to you at the final location. All you need to bring is climbing equipment for the climber, a pen and a GPSr.

7) Please replace all tools, caps, cords and other items EXACTLY as you found them. Everything should be tethered in place to prevent loss due to severe weather or injuries from falling objects.

8) Have FUN! If you get frustrated, stumped or have any other concern, please send me a message. I want my caches to be found and my puzzles to be solved (eventually) by everyone who attempts them! I'll be happy to nudge someone in the right direction after a co-FTF has been verified.

9) Maps of the campus are available on the UMD website.

10) The log is stored inside a waterproof green matchstick container.

FTF prize is a matchstick container and a pair of FTF travel tags. The prize is located in the field puzzle and will be retrieved in the same method as the log.
