Geocache Description:

To keep this cache going, may I ask the next keen bushwalking cacher a favour: Please, bring a small watertight case (e.g. a clip on sistema box) and log book along to replace the old weather-beaten plastic box if needed. Place it in a rain protected spot and add a spoiler photo. Thank you!

Before attempting this cache, please go to QPWS Park Alerts http://www.derm.qld.gov.au/parks_and_forests/park_alerts/index.php
"The cool moist upland rainforests of the Bellenden Ker Range are home to several plants and animals that are found nowhere else in the world. Relicts from ancient times when temperate rainforests was more widespread, these species now live in "cool islands" of upland rainforest isolated from each other by a "sea" of warm lowland forest.
A small smooth-scaled skink the Bartle Frere skink may be seen during the day among the granite bolders. This energetic and agile little animal is a relict of temperate rainforests - its closest relatives are found in Tasmania, southern Australia and New Zealand. Today the skink is found only above 1400m on the cloud draped summit of Mt Bartle Frere.
This native rhododendron grows only above 1000m, thriving on exposed peaks shrouded in dense mist. A straggly shrub that scrambles over rocks or grows as an epiphyte on other plants, it is covered with bright red, bell-shaped flowers in spring and summer."

For those attempting the climb to the summit of Queenslands highest mountain there is a shelter some 45 min away from the top. Protected from any weather hazard you might find here a much appreciable overnight rest.
What probably was not in your mind: There is a very cute gem especially for Geocachers hidden somewhere around.
Better try to find and log it still in the late afternoon or early evening. Otherwise nightmares of not being able to find and log this valuable cache will keep you from a proper sleep.
Dry weather and happy hunting!
BYO pen, please!
Apart from Geocoins, no other trade or trophy items (including Travel Bugs) can be placed in this cache.

Special regard has to be taken for the environment in this National Park which is totally protected. You must comply with any park regulations. We recommend you browsing on http://www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks_and_forests/parks/bartle_frere_trail_wooroonooran_national_park.html.
Permission to place this Geocache has been given by the QPWS ranger in charge.
1) Taken from the information board close to the shelter.
