A flash mob (or mini-mob) event for cachers in this neck of the woods to commemorate this special day. Bring your own coffee......we will supply the cake (as long as the attendance isn't on Biblical proportions!).
If the predictions are right and the world is to end, you should get a good view from here. Mind you, some people say that the Mayans actually predicted the Winter Solstice which is on 21st December, and not on this day.
Ah well, at least you get a badge on your profile for logging a cache.
The carpark, at the time of writing is occupied by 3 or 4 large lakes, but hopefully will have improved by then. If there is snow, we might have to cancel the event. The main carpark should hold 20 cars or so and there is additional parking further along the single track lane for another 12 or so. There is also a 1.9m height bar so be warned if you have a camper van etc.
The electricity people have closed the lower, parallel road past Huntroyde for several weeks (Whins Lane). The event is best approached therefore from the Padiham side, along Sabden Road which leads off Slade Lane, which in turn leads off from the A6068.
There are a few (probably soggy) caches nearby which will be removed and replaced in the New Year( if the Mayans are wrong of course) .
