Geocache Description:

Winterfest 2013

Join us for lots of fun at the 7th annual Winterfest Geomeet to be held at Chapman State Park on Saturday January 19th from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM.  The Kinzua Cachers will again be hosting the Winterfest Geomeet at  Yurt Number 1 in the Chapman State Park campground.  The format will be a little different this year.  The game will begin at 10:30 AM and you will have about 4 hours to wander around the park finding the nine Winterfest game caches to collect a game piece from each one.  Once you have found your temporary caches and collected your game pieces, you will be able to bring your game pieces back to the headquarters and turn them in to see if you are an instant winner of one of the many great prizes that will be awarded.

The format has been changed from the door prize drawing at the end of the day to allow us to complete the process a little sooner, so that participants won’t have to stay all day to see if they have won a prize and to allow those interested in taking part  (brrrr!!) or watching the polar plunge event which has been moved to begin at 2:00 PM at the beach area.

There will be lots of fun things going on at the park and lots of good food available to help us all brave the elements.  There will be the usual travel bug exchange and lots of good companionship around the campfire outside the yurt.

This is The Seventh Annual Winterfest Geomeet.

This years event will also count as an Allegheny GeoTrail cache. If you are still working on earning your AGT coins for Warren County, you can get a stamp for your AGT passport. If you are just starting the AGT, passports will be available at the geocaching table.

The event cache held at the posted coordinates is a regular geocache, however, it is also part of the Allegheny GeoTrail (AGT), a publicly funded project designed to promote a pleasant and positive experience and image of the Allegheny National Forest region and its gateway communities. The AGT utilizes the growing interest in geocaching to assist both residents and visitors to the area in learning more about the unique attractions in the ten participating counties. This cache contains a unique self inking rubber stamp which you should use to stamp your Allegheny GeoTrail Passport to verify that you found it. When you have found a minimum of six AGT caches, you will be eligible to have your AGT passport validated and receive a commemorative AGT trackable geocoin at participating locations. You must have your official AGT passport with you when you find this cache in order to stamp it. Click on the Allegheny GeoTrail Logo below to visit the AGT website at www.alleghenygeotrail.com for complete details and a listing of participating locations where you may pick up and validate AGT passports to receive your souvenir geocoin, trackable at www.geocaching.com .
