You seek a camo'd magnetic container with log and swag across the street from the site of Charlotte's worst mass killings and most notorious unsolved crimes.
Sometime between 2 and 5 A.M July 4, 1979, a person or persons approached the small house at 2500 Allen Road South, Charlotte N.C. (across the street from the cache location) and murdered 5 persons associated with the Outlaws Motorcycle gang in what was to become known as the "July 4th Massacre"
The dead were four men and one woman. All had been shot multiple times, and one body had been mutilated. There was no sign of a struggle, and 4 victims were shot "execution style" face down inside the house, while another; apparenlty a prosective member of the club who was slain outside near the porch where a shot gun was found nearby.
Located between a grocery store (now an auto repair shop) and a trucking terminal, the house had long served as a gathering place for the Outlaws in Charlotte. Around 5 A.M. chapter president "Chains" Flamont discovered the bodies. There is speculation that the murders were committed by members of a rival gang, or that the killings were done by some prospective members who were denied membership.
No suspects were ever arrested and the crime remains the worst single event massacre in the history of the city. The case is unsolved and is still considered an open investigation by the Charlotte Police Department.
