Geocache Description:

Event cache on 12/21/12 at 8pm (to 9pm) at the Starbuck's in the PV Promenade. The only activity planned is drinking coffee.  (No gifts, no end of world murder-suicide pacts.  "Last chance for a smilie!" - Virge)  Welcome....to....'The Event Cache At The End Of The Universe!'

After the summer event caches I took a bit of a break for the shenanigans of the school year, but I'm going to try to pop in at least one (maybe more) around the end of the year here...and since I can't find a Starbucks further west other than Golden Cove, I figured I'd move this event back to this Starbucks at the PV Promenade for this one, since there's more room inside and the temperature fares to be a bit nippier than when last we met!

And what better occasion than the end of the world?

“The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

This can be a chance to put faces to names, kibbitz on caches, show off and trade trackables and coin collections, get a good chance to ask anyone how to use GSAK, run macros, and make cool profile pages, etc...remember, there is free wi-fi at Starbucks anyway!

“There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.”

Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

The coordinates will take you to one of two Starbucks at the PV Promenade/mall area, the other Starbucks is the decoy event cache, don't go there! ;)

So, while it is not odd that the Mayan calendar 'ends' on a solstice, the odd part to me is that it is my brother's birthday.  When we asked how he felt about the world ending on his birthday, his only comment was that he'd have his party earlier in the day.  Hmm.

“Will you stop counting!' snarled Zaphod.
'Yes,' said Ford Prefect, 'in three minutes and thirty-five seconds.”

Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Time of event is simply 8pm-9pm. Caching before or afterward is optional, I may not depending on other demands on my time...

“And so the Universe ended.”
