goingtopot: The cache has run its course. Even though its combined difficulty apparently shied cachers away, there were a few hardened souls who went the distance. It was fun to build and I'm happy that over half of the civil war associated stages of the multicache still exist and are certainly generating more interest than Hard Eight itself. Thanks for the modicum of interest.

Congratulations to G. O. Cash for FTF at Stage 8!

This is a multi-puzzle cache, do not go to the posted coordinates.

Hard Eight

 An eight stage multi-puzzle.

Primarily, this multicache is intended to take the cacher to various out-of-the-way (read that as "less traveled") areas of interest or historical locations.

Secondarily, it's intended to present the cacher with what the CO feels is the equivalent of the cache title. But, don't fret! The stages for this find consist of travel, site puzzles [3], a directional stage with information, directional caches with information and logs [3], and a final cache.

 One might feel as though they're processing traditional caches, puzzle caches, virtual caches, whereigo processes while they attempt this multicache, and that combination should be much fun!

 Please replace all cache materials precisely as found or the value of the cache may be diminished. As we all know, the worst obstacle to multi-cache completion can be lack of care of the materials along the way.

If you encounter coordinate, condition, or positioning situations along the way, feel free to contact the CO for assessment. That will be very much appreciated.

The difficulty and terrain attributes apply to the entire collection of stages. The difficulty is as much in line with the time and distance the search requires as the locations and characteristics of the hides and sites. It's not as difficult as, say, a difficulty 5 that consists of five stages that are each .5 miles apart on a path that permits high-difficulty concealment on steep terrains.

Continue the quest through Stage 8. Enjoy the trip! AND, if you should note any difficulties along the way, email or message me and I'll get back to you with assistance. Really, given the hints, the only truly difficult stages are the final two.

Take care at some of the locations, it can be tricky at times.
Insure that you follow any restrictions in specific areas - don't wander into private properties or marked locations.
This multi-cache is not recommended after dark.


It is suggested that travelers not be placed in the stages/final due to the overall difficulty of the multicache. I wouldn't want travelers to remain in a stage for too long a time.

All of the stages are on public properties, but the cacher should take care not to move into private areas that might be nearby.

Finally, the difficulty/terrain each cacher encounters may differ, depending upon capability, routes taken, or time applied to reaching the final cache.
