PLEASE READ FULL DETAILS FOR ACCESS.......Please wear suitable footwear as there is some uneven ground to deal with, the walk is mostly dry but can be a bit muddy.
Four fences to cross, all easy. This cache is placed at the former site of RAF Bishopbriggs, this site was established in 1939 as a barrage balloon depot and repair facility.

This site was formerly much larger as there was also a transit camp on the other side of the road to accomodate troops while travelling between postings however this is all gone now and covered by the new Low Moss prison and VOSA. The camp itself became a prison after the war for low security prisoners and was only demolished in 2007 to make way for the new building.
Part of the balloon site is also now a golf range however I have discovered there is one wee gem still in the undergrowth at the cache site.
On every visit I have madde I have seen several deer near GZ, far too fast for a photo though!!. Start and park at or near the waypoint for parking, please do not block the road, cross the wooden fence and make your way towards the South East corner of the concrete area, while crossing this you may see several sets of the rails in the concrete that supported the hangar doors some 25 metres long.
Look for two brick pillars that once supported a cylindrical tank and make your way close to the left of them over a mound, continue East and cross the two fences at the very obvious point ahead, after crossing turn left around the back of some small mounds, head North passing the small tower on your left towards a long low brick wall running across your path then turn right near the wall (East) towards your goal.
You should pick up one of the concrete roads nearer GZ leading to cache site, there is a low fence around GZ that is easy to cross. You should arrive at what is thought to be the balloon gas store, it will become clear upon arrival.
Not recommended for searching during the hours of darkness as there is uneven ground.
