Whakakaiwhara Point is a 1 hour return side trip from the farm loop walk, or allow at least 1 ½ hours from the carpark, if going directly there and back.
It is well worth the effort, as you are treated to the best views in the park.
The point was once a Pa site, quite obvious are the remains of Kumara pits and the defensive ditch.
Take heed of the title, and keep any young ones under tight control, as there are unfenced cliffs beyond the last of the farm fences.
Please be delicate in your search, there are not a lot of places to hide out here so don’t destroy the few that exist.
