The national road is not called by number in Kyoto city. The route No.1is "Gojo-dori". Gojo-zaka slope starts from Kamogawa to Higashiyama-dori cross section. There are many famous temples and shrines and ceramic shops around here, so it is crowded by visitors almost seasons. In August mid summer, it is held "Toki-ichi" ceramic festival, you can enjoy to find good items.

京都市内では、国道は数字で呼ばれません。国道１号線は、このあたりでは五条通です。鴨川から東山通りまでのあたりは、東向きに登りになっており、五条坂と呼ばれています。通り沿いには多くの陶器屋があります。また、近くに清水寺、建仁寺、等々の有名寺院があることから、いつも渋滞しています。８月には、五条坂陶器祭りが開かれ、掘り出し物探しを楽しむことができます。
