Maplebeck Viewpoint : Mushroom Soup. Traditional Cache

There was a time when placing geocaches was an enjoyable part of the hobby. Reading the logs, and finders generally taking the time to appreciate the location/description/time and expense and commitment from the Cache Owner that made placing caches worthwhile.

Sadly this is no longer the situation, and as this is supposed to be an enjoyable pastime I have decided to withdraw all of my active geocaches and hope that this will allow me to continue to enjoy the hobby, and maybe cause some people to re-consider their geocaching activities and appreciate the fact that a cache owner has gone to some effort to have a cache published, and that this effort could be acknowledged.

There are some caches that I will consider transferring to another player, should they get in touch, but the others will be removed to allow others to either replace or heave a sigh of relief and move on.

Thanks to all of the players that have visited these caches and had the good grace to log thoughtfully and also award favourite points (feel free to withdraw them after archiving). To those that feel that a cache merits a cut n paste log or just one word then you have contributed to this action.

Geocache Description:

A micro cache situated in an area that gives some lovely views.

There is an off road parking area and picnic benches.

I was visiting the location to do some research and check up on another of my caches.
In between heavy showers I stopped here, just for the view.

So it would be a missed opportunity to drive on without leaving a cache to bring others here too.

Here's a couple of pics, one of the stone pillar with direction plate thereon, pointing out Southwell Minster and Lincoln Cathedral. The bottom pic shows one of the views, but come and visit and you should see better.

The nearby villages of Maplebeck and Winkburn are very pretty too.
