Mizpah is a small pioneer cemetery with about eight grave markers. A forgotten little place. Please have a look around and follow the short trail to the other grave markers. The saddest marker belongs to Thomas Alvin Hart who died in September 15, 1886 at age of 3 years and 5 months. Please respect this place and tread softly. The cache is a small camo'd match case.
Nothing remains of the settlement of Mizpah but this little cemetery in the woods. Settlers came here during the free land grant but were unable to work and clear the land. With farming being unsuccessful may soon left the area in search of more productive land but not before the loss of some pioneers to sickness and disease. Little is known about the settelment of Mizpah. I have found record of a small church was built in 1884 but later closed in 1907. In 1930 it was moved down the road and became Limberlost school before turning into a private resident.
