Geocache Description:

This track is not active and is owned by the City. Cache should be approached from the east. It is not required or recommended to walk on the rail bridge across the Leon River. The bridge location has some steep drops to the river. Keep an eye on any little ones watch your step and you should have no problems. Caches are not placed in any dangerous positions or near the water. Parking is available at the waypoint provided at the intersection of Taylors Valley Rd and Witter Ln. There is some bush whacking through tall weeds along the track for the first 1000ft but then it’s pretty clear. Be safe and enjoy. Thanks for  looking!!!
Forgotten Steel

Jointed track is made using lengths of rail, usually around 39 ft. or 78 ft. long, bolted together using perforated steel plates known as joint bars. Joint plates are usually 2 ft. long, used in pairs on either side of the rail ends and bolted together (usually four, but sometimes six bolts per joint). The bolts may be oppositely-oriented so that in the event of a derailment and a wheel flange striking the joint, only some of the bolts will be sheared. Because of the small gaps left between the rails, when trains pass over jointed tracks they make a "clickety-clack" sound.
