Historic Donegal Town – St. Patrick’s
This Catholic church is apparently also known as the Church of the Four Masters. It was built in the 1930's, although the style appears much older.
It took four years to build and was completed in 1935, the architect being Ralph Byrne who also designed the cathedral at Cavan (in a completely different style). St. Patrick's is Irish neo-Gothic (complete with the traditional round tower) and constructed of pink granite from a quarry at Barnesmore (An Bearnas Mór, meaning "the big gap") in the Bluestack Mountains. Inside there is said to be a very fine altar of Irish marble paid for by Patrick Gallagher, a local solicitor.
Cache is a film container containing a log roll. You will need your own pen/pencil. Please ensure to place back out of sight. Please log any DNF’s. Thank you.
