This Downtown cache is located in Clarkston, GA. This is our second Downtown / Main Street USA cache. We designed this quick 4-step multicache to give you a quick tour of what is considered to be the "main street" of Clarkston, Church Street and East Ponce De Leon. This cache will bring you past a few of the places that speak to the history of Clarkston.

Important - if you park at the suggested parking coordinates, getting to the posted coords will require you to cross over a set of train tracks. Please be advised that the train comes about every 45 minutes and usually comes through very fast. Please be careful at all times while seeking this cache. Also be advised that though this cache was placed with permission, you should be careful not to disturb the building located nearby the cache.
The City Of Clarkston owes much of its beginnings to the Georgia Railroad. In the 1830’s, the Georgia Railroad built a rail line through what is present day Clarkston to connect the merchants of Athens with outlets in Augusta and South Carolina.
The posted coords should lead you to the front of a municipal building. Upstairs you'll find City Hall and downstairs you'll find the Clarkston Police Department. On the north facing side of the building you'll find the building stone (white) and a plaque (black). You'll need to collect the following information from both places:
1 - What year was the City Hall building erected? (Not the annex).
2 - What year was the city founded? (In the "City of Clarkston" crest).
Walking West the very next building is the Clarkston First Methodist Church. Nearby you'll find a large black object often associated with dinner (at least here in the south). This object stands on top of a brick square that also has a white stone in it with an engraving. Pay careful attention to the object itself. You'll notice several words forged in it including the manufacturer. There is a particular number two digit number that is repeated several times. It is also prominent at the top of the object.

4 - In what year was the original one room wooden church built?
Continuing West you'll find the Clarkston Women's Club. This organization has been a part of Clarkston for a long, long time and is the third oldest Woman’s Club building in the state of Georgia. If you stand next to the sign you should be able to gather the remaining pieces of information needed to calculate the final cache coordinates.
5 - What is the physical address of the Women's Club building? (not on the sign but nearby)
6 - What year was the Women's Club established?
Once you've completed the above three information gathering steps calculate the coords for the final stage of the cache using the following:
