I guess it was worth it, her IL team were league champs. The following year, her high school team won the regions and went on to the elite 8 in the state tournament. Her picture still hangs in the ECHS gym, along with the rest of the team.
Then…the next year…she quit. I guess she lost “the eye of the tiger”.
She finished high school with honors, off to college, and then marriage.
She works at a financial institution in accounting, and is doing quite well.
She lost the Eye of the Tiger for basketball, but in the weaving of the tapestry of life, I guess it didn’t matter. She’s winning at the game that is truly important…the game of life.
Now, after all these years, we once again play “Eye of the Tiger” on the way to the games. This time it’s football with our little “Big Man”.
Yep, that’s why we’re called Abe and Sarah. 14 years apart, they are. One’s out of school, married, and has a career. The other…he was born the year of our 25th wedding anniversary. He’s 8.
