12-12-12 is rather unique as it’s the last time this century that the date, month and year will be the same (when written in mm/dd/yy format). I decided to release this cache to commemorate this day and give the opportunity for geocachers to gain a souvenir by logging their find on the geocaching.com site.
This really is one of my favourite places in the Cape Peninsula and I hope you enjoy the walk and views getting to GZ. The easiest route to get to the cache would be to start from the upper Silvermine car park and make your way up towards the Sentinal View cache.
Not far from the Hout Bay Sentinal wooden viewing deck take the path up past Skyline Bonus and Pitstop caches towards Skyline Path cache. At S 34° 04.145 E 018° 22.828 you should make your way along the faint path to S 34° 04.150 E 018° 22.814. From here continue to GZ with a short rock scramble at the end!
I was lucky enough to see a large number of Black Eagles soaring in the warm anabatic winds the day I placed the cache, hoping they will be visible during your visit! Enjoy the hike and Happy Caching!
