Geocache Description:

The track on a railway or railroad, also known as the permanent way, is the structure consisting of the rails, fasteners, sleepers and ballast (or slab track), plus the underlying subgrade. For clarity it is often referred to as railway track (British English) or railroad track (in the United States).  Since this is located in Solon, Ohio USA, it must be railroad tracks.  The Cleveland Commercial, which currently leases a Wheeling & Lake Erie branch between Falls Junction and Cleveland,  operates the NS Randall Secondary between Broadway Avenue in Cleveland and milepost 27.5 in Aurora Township — a distance of 25 miles.

These tracks are inactive and based on the plant and tree growth, they were last used over a decade ago.  The active rail line actually ends about 300 feet or so northwest of this location where Harper Road goes over the right of way.  There is no longer a rail crossing there as the rails were removed and the crossing has been paved over.

This cache is near the Old Harper Road rail crossing.  Please do not park in the nearby business parking lots as there are signs saying they will tow your car if you do.  The terrain rating is due to the overgrown nature of the rail bed in the summer and the snow in the winter.  The difficulty is due to it being a challenging cache.  Please put it back exactly as found and be sure the container is closed completely.
