Waring Road from end to end Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

KASCAN: The destructive forces of roadway construction continues to expand across the former GZ. [:(] Terrain has totally been altered (Stage-2/2) and most likely will continue to be as the contractors advance to an end product that is unclear to me at this point. [:o] So I shall close this GZ down. A redux will be considered at a future date once all the dirt and dust of the roadway project has settled. [;)]

Many thanks to Palmetto my local reviewer, for advising and assisting along the way. [^] A very successful GZ that has helped satisfy the needs of many a cacher in their quest. [:)] Those that assigned a favorite, I appreciate that recognition for placing a GZ that cachers deemed worthy of acknowledgement.

Geocache Description:

A two-stage that covers 1.5 miles. While parked at stage-1 you can also nab another nearby cache & an easy benchmark before going South to stage-2. Final GZ has enough room to clear the roadway for potential PnG. Also a benchmark south along fence. Weekends & after standard work commute hours are recommended to minimize passerby exposure. Cache & Log only, BYOP.

Depending on your experience and situational awareness this multi-cache could almost be a PnG... or be a brain tease. Highly recommend stage-1 parking to give your "geo-ride" a break and you a chance to stretch those legs. Take in the surroundings that would otherwise be missed from the usual vantage point in a vehicle trying to make it though the traffic light. Also, make use of the provided driveway to clear the road at Stage-2. Hope you enjoy as much as I did placing.

Waring Road has been here for quite some time. It is my understanding that the road is named for Gordon L. Waring who passed away in 1989. Waring was into real estate acquisition in the 50s & 60s. I suspect at one point he probably owned a lot of the acreage in the immediate area.

The 1.5 or so mile route North to South provides access to a tolled limited access highway (State Road 570, aka Polk Parkway), rural residential, agricultural and light commercial properties. Along the latest extension is about 0.6 mile frontage of unimproved wooded acreage and pasture on one side and a blueberry farm on the other.

Most recent road improvement was completed in 2010 at a price tag close to 3-million tax payer dollars combined from the State, County and City of Lakeland to extend the southern end from it's former termination at Medulla Road (now Old Medulla) an additional 1/2-mile to West Pipkin Road. The project provided an improved route for increasing traffic volume generated by population growth south and southwest of nearby Lakeland-Linder International Airport. Each end now has traffic lights and turn lanes. The northern end near stage-1 was created when the Polk Parkway was completed several years ago. A quarter-mile section had been constructed as a parkway connector from Drane Field Road.
