Geocache Description:

The Mathinna area is one of our favourite places to visit in Tasmania so we thought it would be a good choice for our first cache hide.

The Mathinna Falls are located about a 20 minutes drive from the township of Mathinna on rough, unsealed roads. The falls consist of three seperate cascades each 40 or 50 metres apart. A short 10 minute walk from the car park  takes you to the first of the falls.

There is a log crossing part way along the creek which can become slippery after heavy rain. A new track has been cut just before the log crossing providing access to the track leading to all the falls. The track from the the bottom of the first cascade is steep and tricky. Considerable care is needed. The climb is well worth the effort to experience these falls

The cache is a camo bison tube. You will need your own pen. It is not necessary to climb the falls to locate the cache. GPS accuracy is not great in this area so I have included a hint.

Hope you enjoy this special area
