Take a cruise up the River Avon from Pulteney Weir to Bathampton Mill. In order to find the clues for this cache and its final you will need a boat, this is why the terrain rating is 5. It is not possible to retrieve the cache during the boat tours leaving at Pulteney Weir, you will need your own boat. As always you are responsible for your own actions and safety. Neither Groundspeak nor the owner accepts liability for any form of eventuality.

If you are not able to do the first three stages of this cache (because you are hiring a boat from Bath Boating Station), we have included alternative questions for these three stages for you to research at home. This way you will still be able to do the cache without visiting the first three stages. ⇒ Click here for alternative questions.

STAGE 1: We start our trail where The official River Avon Trail ends: At Pulteney Weir in Bath. Row through the middle arch of Pulteney Bridge N 51° 22.980 W 002° 21.470. How many loops of chains can you see either on the left hand side or on the right? __ = A

STAGE 2: Continue to row up the river to N 51° 23.0(A-3)(A-4) W 002° 21.5(A-6)(A-6). How many life rings are there on Caxton Court? __ = B

STAGE 3: When you arrive at N 51° 23.1(A+1)(A+B) W 002° 21.4(A+B)B look to your right. How many round white lights are there on the building to your right? __ = C

STAGE 4: Pass under the bridge at N 51° 23.3A(B-2) W 2° 21.3C(C+C). How many grey concrete beams span the underside of the bridge? __ = D

STAGE 5: There is a sign at a building to your right at N 51° 23.4(C-1)D W 002° 21.0(D-3)(D-B). Look at the number to find E --> 312E00: __ = E

STAGE 6: Now continue going up the river to these coordinates N 51° 23.6B(E-D) W 002° 20.4E(C-D). To your left you will see a sign, telling you the speed limit. __ = F

STAGE 7: Stage 7 can be found at N 51° 23.8(F-B)(F+D) W 002° 20.0(A+B)(F-D). How many concrete pillars do you count at the water's edge only (both sides in total). __ = G

FINAL: Now enjoy going up the river to the following coordinates where you can find the small cache: (A+C+D+E).E(E-B)F W 002° (B+D+E+F).ABG.
