Strewn across every nation in the world are evidences of habitation, that today lie derelict, forlorn, some overgrown, some eroding and being worn away by the elements. The VACANT VALE cache has been placed at one of these former places of habitation that is now forsaken and slowly being swallowed by the natural vegetation of this particular valley. Cache has been placed with permission.
DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE ORIGINAL CACHE PLACEMENT AREA HAS BEEN FENCED OFF, THE CONTAINER HAS BEEN MOVED TO A LITTLE FURTHER ALONG THE TRAIL WHERE THERE IS NO PROBLEM TO ACCESSIBILITY
Some of these former dwellings were obviously magnificent in their time, others just humble abodes that provided shelter for unknown persons from the elements of nature. ALL have a story behind their being, their occupation and reasons for their demise. Yet multiple many, just as this one, have no traceable history or story, and an individual’s imagination can only recreate a possible tale of a settler family, or herdsman’s lifestyle – their struggles and overcoming of obstacles; sadness’s and joys, experienced in some historical time past.
May you in your endeavour to find this cache not experience too many struggles and frustrations? Trust you will be overcomers and that in being able to log your name to the list you will experience satisfaction and joy.
Before moving on think about the natural beauty of this place and wonder who lived here; when and why; and what made them leave.
Please leave the cache and the surrounds as natural, as we hope you found it – so as not to be a spoiler or give-away to the next adventurous, container- seeking geocacher who will be following in your footsteps.
