The Red Sox are down 3 games to 0 to the dreaded Yankees. It's the bottom of the ninth inning and the Sox are losing 4-3. The Yanks have their ace closer, Mariano Rivera on the mound. Kevin Millar works a lead off walk and is immediately run for by speedy Dave Roberts. On Rivera's first pitch to Bill Mueller, the speedy Roberts stole second, putting himself in scoring position. Mueller's single allowed Roberts to score, resulting in Rivera blowing the save and the game going into extra innings, tied at four runs apiece. Big Papi David Ortiz then won the game with a walk off 2 run homer in the bottom of the 12th inning.
Like other historical events, most Red Sox fans know exactly where they were and what they were doing when Roberts stole second. If you remember, please include that in your log. For most of us, this will be a pleasant memory. For GenieCache, not so much.
(Sorry, Dave. I couldn't resist)
