Make a Bee Line Letterbox Hybrid

This cache has been archived.

honeybee77: Unfortunately, it seems this cache was permanently damaged in a recent controlled burn. Since I am no longer in the area to maintain it, I've decided to archive it. I will pick up the remnants on my next trip to the area.

This cache is for kids of all ages. This letterbox hybrid (LBH) is not located at the posted coordinates. You must follow the given directions/waypoints to the cache. The cache contains a stamp and ink pad; please leave these in the cache for everyone to enjoy!

Cache is not at the posted coordinates! You must follow the directions/waypoints below to the cache. It is less than a quarter mile walk along a dirt trail to the final cache location.

GC42MHW Map
  1. The posted coordinates will bring you to a junction along a trail in Raceway Woods. Start here.
  2. Keep following the trail for about 0.1 mile toward Waypoint 1. Here you will pass a horse farm on the adjacent property. Be sure to wave hello to the horses! Keep following the fence line toward Waypoint 2.
  3. About 200 feet past the horses, read the sign about the benefits of prairie fires (Waypoint 2) (Update: The sign post is still there, but information is not! The gist of it is that prairie fires are awesome and help restore the ecology to the prairie by cutting back invasive and woody species). Then continue along the trail to the right.
  4. Shortly after the fire sign (85 feet or so), the trail will fork again (Waypoint 3). This time, follow the trail to the left into the prairie restoration.
  5. Keep along the trail another 250 feet to a picnic table. Did you pack a lunch? Take a rest if you need to.
  6. Cache is hidden at the base of the tree across the trail from the picnic table. Be sneaky when looking for it. You don't want anyone else to know what you're up to!
  7. Sign your name in the log book and take an imprint of the stamp using the extra sheets of paper if you want to. Please re-hide the cache as good as or better than you found it.
