We've ’bean’ meaning to put out a few caches in the area for a while and finally got around to it.  None of the caches are particularly difficult so there are no hints.

Brigadier General Walter Alexander Bean
1908-1998
 
 
    Born in 1908, in Berlin (now Kitchener), the son of newspaper publisher David Bean. Walter proved himself to be an excellent athlete during his time at KCI. His athletics continued while he attended the University of Toronto, where he played junior hockey and was selected for the Canadian All-Star Football team.  He graduated from the U of T in 1930.

   In 1930 he was commissioned with the Scotts Fusiliers of Canada. In 1940 he volunteered for oversea duty with the Light Infantry of Canada and obtaining the rank of Brigadier General in June 1945.  As a senior staff officer he severed in the United Kingdom, North Africa, and in the Pacific Theatre. Near the end of the war he was named chief officer of the Canadian Forces in the Pacific, and earned the honour of Commander of the British Empire.

   He worked his way up through the ranks of Waterloo Trust and Savings Company, starting as a ledger keeper and becoming president and general Manager.  Following the merger with Canada Trust he stepped into the role of Deputy Chairman and Vice-President. He also served as president of the Kitchener Chamber of Commerce, the Gyro Club and was KW Citizen of the Year in 1973.
