Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Larkin State Park Trail Series

UPDATE:  2023 - Ticks seem to be particularly bad this year. Please use tick spray before hiking on the Trail

NOTE: This is a busy series and log books get full. Please bring some spare logs (bison tube) and help me maintain the trail. Small Log Books

NOTE: It is OK to replace or repair a damaged cache. If you can, please dry out the inside of any cache that is wet. If a cache is totally missing, please report it to the CO as a DNF so that I can take care of it.

NOTE: The LSPT section between 46 and 51 is NOT usable. You will find caches 47 - 50 along the road.

NOTE: There is No cache numbered 55. It is a 'ghost' cache. There is another cache hidden within 528 feet of where LSPT 55 would have been. There maybe a LSPT 55 someday.

This is a series of caches along the Larkin State Park Trail (a.k.a. Larkin State Bridle Path). The caches are almost all meant to be easy to find (there are a couple of toughies), not boring and mostly winter friendly (but not all). The point of this series is to get you out of the house (walking, bike riding or snowshoeing) and get a lot of caches along the way. I hope you enjoy it.

This trail is 10.3 miles long and takes one back to the great railroad days of the late 1800s and early 1900s. It follows an old railroad trail through the four towns of Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford and Southbury. You will need to bring your own pen for all of these caches.

It is 2.3 miles one way for caches 1 to 20.
It is 2.7 miles one way for caches 20 to 40.
It is 3.0 miles one way for caches 40 to 60.
It is 2.3 miles one way for caches 60 to 80.

The following codes have been added to each hint to get you to the correct side of the trail as bounce can be bad at times:

  • RSOT = Right Side of Trail going from cache 01 to 80.
  • LSOT = Left Side of Trail going from cache 01 to 80.

For more information see the following link: Larkin State Park Trail

All caches in the series were placed with the permission of the Connecticut DEEP. Larking State Park Trail is open from 8 am to sunset. Pets on a maximum seven foot leash are permitted. This park is not handicapped accessible.

Special thanks to Giriando who was the original owner of this cache and the architect of this wonderful series.

Congratulations to:
Cap'n Bill on FTF!
