Out of the Ballpark Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

DykstraDynamo: Well, after a thorough search through the thick brush and masses of poison ivy, we've determined that the cache is gone. If I was a spiteful person, I might wish the thief got a good dose of the ivy. Time will tell if I am indeed immune to the stuff - to date, I've never had it affect me, and I'm not very good at identifying the stuff (which is how the cache ended up in a patch of it in the first place!)

We'll place a new cache in a new location (without the ivy) soon!

Geocache Description:

The cache is a large ammo box, stocked mostly with toys for the kids. The initial contents of the cache even includes a new HDMI cable, which some of you might find useful.

This cache is located just outside what appears to be an old baseball diamond (hence the cache name) on the grounds of the Huronia Regional Centre.
The HRC operated in Orillia from 1876 until 2009, as an institution for people with developmental disabilities. The grounds of the HRC include some of the nicest waterfront property in Orillia.  More information on the HRC can be found here: http://www.mcss.gov.on.ca/en/dshistory/firstInstitution/huronia.aspx

Enjoy a nice walk along the trail, picking up caches as you go!
Some parking is available along the side of Woodland Drive where it intersects the trail.

Please note that this ammo box can be pretty tough to open and close. Watch your fingers so you don't pinch them. There are some pictures inside to remind you how to reverse the opening process to close it properly. Getting the catches on the back of the box to hold is the tricky part. The rest just takes some strength.

This cache can be a little tricky to get to, but there is a way to get around the water. In the winter, it's pretty easy to cross the ice.

Please note that there is poison ivy around the area. Thanks to Team Hebi for the warning, and congrats to them for find #1500, and yet another FTF! I'm terrible at spotting poison ivy, and yet have managed all my life to never be affected by it. I'm either really lucky, or immune to the stuff.
