It is always difficult to know what to do on New Years Eve, whether to stay at home, to attend a party or make the occasion a memorable event. Everyone has different ideas and thoughts about New Year, and how to see the year end and the new year begin; here perhaps is just one suggestion which might appeal to you.

Happy New Year - Roughtor		 This event is designed for those who want to come along, catch-up with some old friends, and perhaps make some new ones, whilst doing something a little more unusual. 'Happy New Year - Roughtor' is about looking back at 2012 and what a great year it was: The Olympics, The Paralympics and The Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. It is also about looking forward into 2013, and what the year might bring for you. What is planned for this coming year, what are the hopes for the year, and ultimately what would you as an individual like to see happen during 2013.We want you to come along, and bring with you a resolution which you have set yourself, written on the back of a postcard. We will then have a listen to the selection of resolutions and see if we can match them to the individual who placed it in the cache, whilst we sit and drink champagne (bring your own!) from 1145pm on 31st December until 0015am on 1st January 2013 seeing in the first minutes of the year on Roughtor, at 400m above sea level.
Cache Information We need to ensure that safety is paramount for this event. There are adequate and appropriately marked paths leading direct from the car park to the top of the Roughtor formation of Showery Tor, Little Roughtor and Roughtor itself. We highly recommend that you notify someone that you are attending the event, that you come suitably dressed, and that you have a torch, spare batteries and a mobile phone with you. As the event starts at 1145pm hours, there will be an opportunity to ascend together by meeting in the car park at 1030 hours, which will effectively create 'safety in numbers'.
